Naloxone Kit Selfie Contest
Angie Charlebois asked me to report that the FB Page Naloxone Kit Selfie Contest - Yukon has over 60 selfies already posted and every day, more selfies are being added to the page - of individuals posing with these life-saving kits. The goal of this contest is to remove any stigma or fear someone could have about getting a kit that could save the life of someone's who's in overdose by fentanyl or another opioid. Angie's now looking for contest prizes and with all the media attention across North America - this is a great opportunity for an artist or business to get their name out there!!
If you want to help Angie out with the prizes, send her an email at firstname.lastname@example.org or find her on Facebook @ Angie Charlebois.
Dakwäkäda nda dän kų – Haines Junction Health Centre News
Sexual health education
It can be hard for parents to talk to kids about sexual health. On January 22, 2019 at 5:30pm in the Arena Mezzanine, the Department of Education, CAFN, and Health and Social Services are hosting a session for all parents and guardians to boost confidence to discuss the topic with their kids, in an open and honest way. A light meal will be provided by CAFN.
Walk in or call for an appointment to ensure that you and your loved ones are protected this flu season. Remember handwashing is the best way to prevent viral illness.
Naloxone kits are available
Fentanyl is deadly and present in the Yukon. If you are using drugs, don’t use alone and have a naloxone kit available. Kits are available to anyone for free from the clinic, with a 20-minute training session. It’s confidential!
No one imagines that they could have a medical emergency, but it does happen. Help your future self by making a plan to manage the unexpected. Talk to your friends and family about who could help out with rides to the clinic, or care of pets and children. Make sure that you have phone numbers for help readily available, should you need support.
On the 2nd Tuesday of each month, the CBC Community Reporter for Dakwäkäda-Haines Junction (Kari Johnston) speaks on Yukon Morning with Christine Grenier at around 8:20 am. Tune in at 103.5 FM.
