A celebration of the United Nation’s International Mountain Day will be held on the evening of International Mountain Day, Wednesday December 11, at the St. Elias Convention Centre in Dakwäkäda-Haines Junction. The event will celebrate events coincident with celebrations held in mountain regions across Canada and around the world. The family evening will feature Mountain Music, Films, Refreshments, mountain themed presentations, as well as a mountain themed trivia event suitable for the whole family. The event is free.
The main Haines Junction Mountain Festival will be held the weekend of February 7th through 9th, 2020. As with previous years this event will feature displays, films, food, and the opportunity to hear diverse mountain themed and travel presentations as well as see world class films. With the longer days in February the festival will also be planning outdoor activities for the whole family.
Both events are organized by volunteers and supported in part by the newly funded Canadian Mountain Network.

Home Routes Concerts
We’ve got the first copy of the draft schedule for the 13th Annual National Concert Series: Home Routes. A big thank you to the gracious hosts/organizers who open up their living rooms to bring live music to your community. Home Routes concerts are hosted in over 150 communities across Canada. This model of arts production makes it feasible for professional musicians to reach communities throughout the country. They return home with new connections, lifelong friends, money in their pockets, recordings sold, and usually want to sign up for another tour. Visit homeroutes.ca for more information.
