👉March Break is this week – lots of fun activities from the CAFN Youth Center and BCG Yukon
👉A huge thank you to the Glacier Nights Festival organizers. It was a tremendous success with activities for all ages. A highlight this year was the perfectly formed snowpile sled hill and castle – an absolute delight for the young at heart. Thank to to the Mayor of Haines Alaska, Tom Morphet,  for his gifts of salmon for the silent auction.
👉 Hardwater Race was last weekend at Pine Lake and a huge thank you to the organizers for another great event. 
👉Election Day was March 13. Congratulations to Bruce Bruce Sundbo who won the byelection and thank you to Dave Weir for putting his name forward.
👉Congratulations to Michael Schmidt who receive word this month that he is receiving an award from the Royal Canadian Geographic Society for lasting recognition of dedication and service to the RCGS.
👉 Lots of chatter, practicing and excitement for the big Yukon First Nations Hockey Tournament March 21-24. Go Storm! Go Bruins!

👉University Tour
CAFN Education Department is on its annual University Tour with three HJ grade 11s joining in. They are down in Victoria and Vancouver this week, visiting colleges and universities, learning public transportation and having a great time.

Notice of Elders Senate will be held on Monday, March 24th, and Tuesday, March 25th, at Champagne Hall.
- Business commences at 10am and concludes at 4pm each day.

👉Join us for Storytime on Fridays, a fun and engaging program for little ones! Each session features themed stories, interactive crafts, and plenty of free time for reading and play. It’s the perfect way for children ages 0-5 to explore books, get creative, and make new friends in a relaxed and welcoming environment. It’s time to register your child for Kindergarten at St. Elias Community School.
If your child will be 5 years old by December 31, 2025, they can start Kindergarten at St. Elias
Community School in the 2025-26 school year. Registration can be done online or in person.

👉 Plan to join the Kluane National Park Management Board on Saturday, April 5, 2025 from 1 to 5 pm at the Kathleen Lake Day Use Area for an afternoon of ice fishing, cross-country skiing and fun for the whole family. 👋St Elias Seniors and Elders Society
👉Mondays from 1:30 to 3PM - Carpet Bowling in the Atrium
👉Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:45am to 11:00 am - Chair Yoga in the Grand Hall (Open to Everyone)
👉Wednesdays from 1:30pm to 3:30pm - Refreshments and Shuffleboard, pool games, board and card games and puzzles in the social room at the Yukon Housing Senior/Elder apartments


👉March 31st is our year-end and our new year fee of $12 is due. This can be paid at our new office located in the bank building on mondays, tuesdays and thursdays between 9:00 and 3:00.
👉The society Annual General Meeting will be held in April in the social room/drop-in centre, from 2:00 to 3:00 followed by a dinner.
👉Support is needed to update and maintain our society photo album, picture taking at functions, booking footcare appointments once a month, assisting with preparation of food at lunches/dinners and general handyman services. 👋Thrift Store
The Haines Junction Thrift Shop is open every Thursday afternoon between 2-6 pm in the basement of the Log Church.   Prices are kept as low as possible with the hope that items will be used again rather than ending up in our landfill.  Items that we can’t use, or have been on the shelves for too long are sent to other places in the hope that they can be used elsewhere, or are sent to be recycled whenever possible.  


At the present time, donations are not being accepted. Volunteers will advise the community when they can receive donations again.


We thank everyone for their donations and want to remind the community that when you come shopping to please bring a bag and that the Thrift Shop is a cash only operation.  


👋Sports, Health and Fitness


👉St Elias Cross Country Ski Club


The Ski Club maintains about 40km+ of trackset trails in the area over the winter. The main trails are the “Forestry Trails” with the main entrance located near the wildfire base or at the end of Bear Berry Road. Volunteers often trackset Pine Lake and other trails around town. With the support of Parks Canada staff, trails like the Auriol are often trackset as well. The best way to keep up to date on trail conditions is to join the ski club for access to trail maps. 
Membership is pay what you can. They suggest $50/family or $30/individual for the year.

👉Biathlon Fun Day: Join us at Mät’àtäna Män this Saturday from 1-5pm to try out the sport of Biathlon, using some optical rifles! Everyone is welcome! There will be lots of snacks and hot dogs.  Bring your own mug for hot chocolate! All ages.


👉Romp-n-Run
Romp n Run is on Tuesdays and Thursdays 10-11:30am
Come enjoy a facilitated program, followed by a healthy snack, and free play.

Lotus yoga classes are:

We have cleared YESAB process and now we’re working with the Village who will be working with the Lands Management Branch for use of Public Lands.
We’re getting ready to submit a funding applications to Lotteries Yukon. 
UPDATE! The deadline to submit an EOI for the Bike Skills Park has been extended to March 20, 2025 at 5pm.

Mondays 5:30-7pm. We would love you to join us! Come in the St. Elias door at 5:15 after that it’s locked by the janitor so knock on the gym door.

Run every Tuesday and Thursday at 7.30 pm. 
Will be one hour mostly.
Meeting up at the front of the swimming pool.

👉Kluane Chilkat International Bike Relay 2025
The race will be taking place on  Saturday June 21st.
