The Thrift Shop is open every other Thursday from 2-4pm… so that means that it’s open January 10 and 31 this month and February 14 and 28. St. Elias Chamber of Commerce The St. Elias Chamber of Commerce is hosting it’s AGM on Thursday, January 10th at 7pm in the Atrium of the St. Elias Convention Centre. During this meeting we will be holding board elections as well as sharing updates on our ongoing projects (including the regional brochure, highway signage, and J-Bucks). We would also like to hold a discussion on how the Chamber currently supports your business and where we have room for improvements. Yukon College – Haines Junction Campus Canadian Firearms Safety Course – January 19 and 20 from 9am to 5pm. Cost is $195 +GST. Advanced Wilderness and Remote First Aid – January 21 to 25 from 9am to 5pm. Cost is $495. The deadline to register is January 16, 2019. Champagne and Aishihik First Nations Sewing Drop-in sewing/projects class is every Wednesday at Da Kù Cultural Centre from 6-8pm. Sports Report Kluane Chilkat International Bike Relay Association The Kluane Chilkat International Bike Relay Association is accepting design submissions for use on the rider and volunteer shirts for the 2019 event. The winning design artist receives a $650 honourarium. The deadline for submission is this Friday, January 11. For more information, please go to www.kcibr.org. Drop-in Badminton The start date for badminton is up in the air 😊 For those people with new year's resolutions to socialize more, get fit and have more fun, badminton will be starting shortly at the school gym... just watch for the poster at the post office! Drop-in curling is Saturday from 7pm to 9:30pm Drop-in Hockey is Tuesdays and Fridays from 7:30-9pm. Romp n Run The 2019 Romp n Run programs start January 8th and run every Tuesday and Thursday until March 28th. This program is for children 4 and under and gets kids moving, wiggling and having fun! Its 10am -11:30am at the Haines Junction Arena mezzanine! Over the next 3 months we will have parent and tot yoga, a fun new kids art exploration program, visits from the Child Development centre and lots of other great activities. Healthy snack and coffee provided. Please wear comfortable clothes and indoor shoes. Parent or caregiver participation is required. St. Elias Dalls Female Hockey Jamboree Our 22nd Annual ever popular St. Elias Dalls Female Hockey Jamboree will be held January 26 & 27 this year and the initial registration response shows it is shaping up to be very well attended. Arts and Culture Out North Film Night – Yukon Queer Film Alliance Friday, January 25 at 7:30 pm at the St. Elias Convention Centre Junction Arts and Music Sarah MacDougall -January 11, 2019 : Sarah MacDougall and her band will kick off our Junction Arts and Music 20th season with a CD release party on January 11th, 2019 at the St. Elias Convention Centre. This is Sarah’s first and only (for now) performance in the Yukon promoting her new CD, so don't miss out! Sarah is a Yukon-based folk/rock/indie artist who has just released her new album All The Hours I Have Left to Tell You Anything. She is well known and loved by Yukoners, which is fitting since, as the Yukon News stated in a headline, "Sarah MacDougall’s new record sounds like scenery." Jodi Proznick Trilogy - January 26, 2018 - Junction Arts and Music is pleased to partner with Jazz Yukon to present an evening of Jazz with Trilogy on January 26th, 2019 at the St. Elias Convention Centre. Formed in 2008, Triology is a Jazz Trio featuring three of Canada’s most sought after jazz musicians - Jodi Proznick, Bill Coon and Miles Black. This group was fashioned after the great early jazz trios of Nat King Cole and Oscar Peterson, and features wonderful arrangements of classic standards, as well as original tunes by the trio members. La Belle Vie en Hiver - February 08, 2019 Junction Arts and Music wants you to escape the winter mood with an evening of music, cheese, and wine on February 8, 2019 at the St. Elias Convention Centre. There will be a tasting of excellent wines and fine cheese from local Whitehorse purveyors, served with artisan baguette and specialty breads. Entertainment will be provided by Lorène Charmetant and company. Cost will be $45 and will include the wine and cheese tasting. Doors will open at 7:00, the event begins at 7:30. The group meets the first Saturday of each month, so the next meeting is February 2. It’s a drop-in, casual group for anyone interested in working on their words. The group meets at the Haines Junction Library on the first Saturday of each month from 10am to 2pm. Art Journaling Group Kim Henkel hosts an Art Journaling group at the St. Elias School art room every Tuesday from 7-9pm. Bring supplies if you have them, if not, Kim is happy to share hers. Community Wellness Naloxone Kit Selfie Contest Angie Charlebois asked me to report that the FB Page Naloxone Kit Selfie Contest - Yukon has over 60 selfies already posted and every day, more selfies are being added to the page - of individuals posing with these life-saving kits. The goal of this contest is to remove any stigma or fear someone could have about getting a kit that could save the life of someone's who's in overdose by fentanyl or another opioid. Angie's now looking for contest prizes and with all the media attention across North America - this is a great opportunity for an artist or business to get their name out there!! Dakwäkäda nda dän kų – Haines Junction Health Centre News Sexual health education It can be hard for parents to talk to kids about sexual health. On January 22, 2019 at 5:30pm in the Arena Mezzanine, the Department of Education, CAFN, and Health and Social Services are hosting a session for all parents and guardians to boost confidence to discuss the topic with their kids, in an open and honest way. A light meal will be provided by CAFN. Flu vaccines Walk in or call for an appointment to ensure that you and your loved ones are protected this flu season. Remember handwashing is the best way to prevent viral illness. Naloxone kits are available Fentanyl is deadly and present in the Yukon. If you are using drugs, don’t use alone and have a naloxone kit available. Kits are available to anyone for free from the clinic, with a 20-minute training session. It’s confidential! Emergency plans No one imagines that they could have a medical emergency, but it does happen. Help your future self by making a plan to manage the unexpected. Talk to your friends and family about who could help out with rides to the clinic, or care of pets and children. Make sure that you have phone numbers for help readily available, should you need support.

There are so many things that I am looking forward to, but the thrift shop is something that is close to my heart that's why it makes me happy that you also have such thing there! Having a thrift shop is like helping a community with people who cannot spend that much yet they need to have new things because it's needed. By the way, there are so many activities that you presented. Everything was just so pleasing to me!
